This project promotes intergovernmental collaboration and cooperation in addressing the public safety of our children in public parks. Miami-Dade County Public Schools (MDCPS) is the fourth largest school district in the United States, comprised of 392 schools, 345,000 students. Miami-Dade County (MDC) is the largest county in the State of Florida and the eighth largest in the United States with a population of 2.7 million residents. MDCPS and MDC are two separate governing agencies that shared a same problem, of keeping the children safe during after school programs in the public parks. The after care and summer camp programs are offered to the school children as part of the MDCPS program. The school buses drop off the children to participate is this government sponsored program in the public parks. The primary function of the video analytics cameras in the park is to respond to real-time situation, receive tripwire alerts, monitor live video feed and prevent incidents, provide law enforcement with a situational awareness snap shot video of incidents in the public park.
