The County’s development in Server and Desktop Virtualization has created a private Cloud Computing model that can Distribute Technology Services to the County’s Business Units. Server and Desktop virtualization is done by creating a network of available computing resources into a pool and then splitting up the available resources into independent networks that can be distributed to Organizations and their Business Units. Each private network consisting of virtual servers and desktops can be assigned or reassigned to a particular Organizational Units requirement. Every subscriber in the Organizational Unit can have shared access to all the resources on their virtual network from their internet connection or private Metro-Ethernet connection. Each network is independently secured. This Virtual Server & Desktop infrastructure has replaced the county’s entire network with the Private Cloud. Sussex County can now offer private cloud computing to the municipalities thus creating a holistic hybrid approach of public cloud, private cloud, and on premise computing. Sussex County can extend their services from each Department/Divisions to the Municipalities utilizing the same Private Cloud Infrastructure. A menu of applications and professional services such as HR, Finance, Purchasing, Facilities Management, Planning, Health, Fleet Management, and Public Works can be established with a cost analysis matrix. This Joint Service model establishes County and Municipal expenses for a clear transition to Joint Service Operations.
