Year: 2016

Palm Beach County’s Shared IT Services Program, administered by the County’s Information Systems Services (ISS) Department, is focused on providing information and communication technology services to other public sector organizations at the lowest possible cost. By leveraging the County's IT resources and making them available at a significantly reduced cost, an opportunity is created for others to provide even greater services to their citizens. In turn, the County is offsetting its expenses and maximizing all taxpayer dollars. Public sector partners include local governments, education, health care and non-profit organizations. Services offered include internet access and network services via the County’s regional network, VoIP telephony, application hosting, GIS hosting, colocation, and document scanning. In 2008, ISS began a pilot project with the Palm Beach County School District to test the concept of a Shared IT Service Program for Palm Beach County. Since then, the program has expanded to include a total of 50 agreements with 43 external organizations which will generate an estimated $426,000 in revenues for FY 2016. Most of the municipalities in Palm Beach County, along with numerous schools, colleges, health facilities and non-profit organization, rely upon ISS for one or more IT services.
