The Seeds that Feed the Need Garden Project is coordinated by Johnson County government through its Human Services department, which manages the Roeland Park Community Center in the northeast part of the county. Johnson County is part of Greater Kansas City, a Midwestern urban center. The garden was conceived and organized to provide supplemental, highly nutritious fresh foods for individuals and families in need while fostering multiple partnershipsâpartnerships that will hopefully become stable and ongoingâpreparing the soil, planting, watering and weeding, harvesting, and distribution. The work was done predominantly by volunteers of all ages, skill levels, and interests. Their common goal was to provide food for persons in need within the community.
