The science program was created from a component of STEM coalition, which are Science, Technology, Education and Mathematics. This program was implemented for girls and boys between the ages of 8 to 12 years old. The purpose of S.L.M.E. allows the students to explore the world of science through different science themes. The students have an opportunity to travel through many areas of science concepts including physics, chemistry, and biology to empower them to become productive participants in our science, technology and mathematics dependent society. In addition students have the opportunity to apply the science concepts to real life applications through the experiments conducted each week. The program is also designed to help prepare students for classroom assignments as well as common core standards testing.
