Scam Squad, a Cuyahoga County-led multidisciplinary fraud task force, created a series of outreach tools that have fostered a more coordinated, community-wide response to scams. Some Scam Squad materials are designed to disrupt scams, including our store-based Gift Card Alert, which received federal recognition and has been replicated by other jurisdictions. Other Scam Squad materials make it easier for police and member agencies to accurately refer victims for help. The Scam Squad Outreach Program allows us to gather information our partners need to alert residents to current scam threats. Moreover, it helps close service gaps that many victims previously encountered in reporting fraud.
