On the Road Board of Commissioners Meetings and Livestreaming

The Rockdale County Board of Commissioners (BOC), in an effort to be more accessible to the community, in mid to late 2017 implemented the On the Road BOC meetings as well as began streaming these meetings live on the County website and social media. This steps were taken in addition to showing the meeting on the government access channel Rockdale 23 and Vimeo.com, which were the two primary sources to show the meetings already in place. The Rockdale County Department of Public Relations first began streaming the BOC meetings on the County website and Facebook page to reach the citizens who were not able to attend the regularly scheduled meetings at 10 a.m. in the Main Street Facility in Conyers, Georgia. This was implemented to help citizens watch meetings from where they were; from their home, office, computer or mobile device. The BOC then wanted to move forward to make sure the voices of the citizens was heard as well, thus implementing the On the Road meetings. These meetings take place at 7 p.m. at various elementary school locations, from north to south Rockdale, giving Rockdale community members the opportunity to attend after work and participate in public comment.
