The Clerk of the Court (COSC) is the records keeper of the Superior Court. There are many fees or fines that a defendant (payer) may be required to pay as ordered by Maricopa Superior Court judges or as mandated by Arizona law. If at sentencing a payer is ordered to pay restitution, a fine or fee of some kind, probation service fees, and/or reimbursements, then the Clerk’s Office must record these obligations. RFR (Restitution, Fine/Fees & Reimbursements), the system that manages all of this, was replaced on November 12, 2019, with over 20 years of user ''wish-List'' functionality. This application is at the heart of the allocation and distribution of funds, one of our Office’s core responsibilities. The system moves staggering amounts of money; last fiscal year, the Clerk's Office processed and allocated over $27 million in payments for criminal financial obligations. During the past five years, our Office has distributed over $50 million in restitution to victims. Key among New RFR’s features are ease of navigation, improved search functionality, advanced reporting, and increased application security. New RFR will create vast efficiencies, significantly reduce the complexity of our application training, improve the accuracy and sustainability of case records, and create a platform for future projects (e.g. online payments and restitution payments via EFT).
