The Plan Check Program of the Environmental Health Division of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (DPH), reviews plans for new and remodeled retail food service establishments. Such establishments include markets, restaurants, bakeries, and hospitality venues such as hotels, for compliance with both the California Health and Safety Code, and the Los Angeles County Health and Safety Code. These reviews ensure that new and remodeled food facilities are constructed In a manner that meets the health and safety requirements of state and local regulations, which serve to protect public health as well as the environment.
