As a result of the recognized need for direct oversight of charges accessed to consumers by regulated business, the Miami-Dade County Consumer Services Department, Consumer Protection Division implemented a “Regulated Industries Proactive Auditing Program.” The program was designed, developed, and implemented by the Division’s Enforcement Unit in 2007. The program targets the Moving and Towing industries specifically. The objective for implementing the program was to identify businesses that overcharge consumers in Miami-Dade County. Industries standards are set by Ordinance and compliance is secured by the Division. The outcome of the audits Is measured by ensuring compliance with the Ordinance through Assurances of Voluntary Compliance.
