An Order of Protection may be requested of the court if the person you desire protection from is a person to whom you are related. Because the filing process for an Order of Protection can be such a volatile situation, the Protective Orders Application in the Maricopa County Superior Court leads the litigant, the individual seeking an Order of Protection, through a simple interview process that automatically generates the needed court forms; ready to file with the clerk of the court. Once the court forms have been filed with the clerk, the litigant quickly receives a hearing with the appropriate judicial officer. Litigants are calendared in the order they entered their information. The judicial officer picks the litigant from a list generated by the protective order application, reviews the petition data from the bench, makes any relevant changes, and then rules the case. The judicial officer may grant the protective order, set a hearing to have the defendant appear before making a ruling or deny the order. The judicial officer can then use the petition information that was input by the litigant to generate the appropriate court orders. This interactive web based application that leads the litigant through a series of questions that are designed to help the litigant complete the required court forms help to determine which type of protective order is applicable to their situation.
