The prevention and Early Intervention Transportation Reimbursement Escort Program (PEI TREP) is a collaborative, interagency volunteer driver program that serves the seniors and disabled adult community of the San Bernardino County High Desert area. This program is an innovative modification to an existing Department of Aging and Adult Services (DAAS) program, utilizing the Prevention and Early Intervention (PEI) mandate within the California Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) funds under the purview of the Department of Behavioral Health (DBH). Developing low cost, flexible, transportation options for older adults is important for mobility, socialization, and mental health. The blending of funds allowed for the expansion of the TREP program into incorporated jurisdictions of the region, and provided outreach support especially for seniors with mental health needs.
