In 2020, the Pierce County Elections Division had to adapt to the realities of the global pandemic while successfullyadministering four different elections, including a historical Presidential Election. This required the Pierce CountyElections Division to implement practices to protect the health and safety of voters, employees, and volunteers whileproviding crucial information to the public.The Elections Division developed the 2020 Voter Outreach Campaign, including timely, attractive and useful contentto encourage voter registration, underscore voter trust and confidence, discredit rumors or misinformation, andannounce results accurately and quickly. The Voter Outreach Campaign also utilized a variety of communicationsand advertising tactics to help communicate safety practices for COVID-19 in relation to voting in Pierce County. Thecampaign resulted in historic voter turnout, with the November General Election being the largest in the County’shistory with more registered voters and counted ballots than ever before.
