The Peer-Driven Room and Board Advisory Coalition is a collaboration of Behavioral Health consumers, providers, Room and Board Operators and other community stakeholders committed to honesty, integrity, empowering and educating; promoting consumer self-advocacy while facilitating consumer access to housing resources that support their Wellness and Recovery efforts. The Coalition assists consumers in accessing safe, supportive housing in the community of their choice, something that is otherwise not within reach for many individuals. Established in May of 2010, The Peer-Driven Room and Board Advisory Coalitionâs primary purpose is to provide resources to consumers seeking healthy, safe, well-managed Room and Board (R & B) shelters that support their wellness and recovery efforts. Coalition members are volunteers who share the common values and believe in empowering Behavioral Health consumers to become âinformed consumersâ through education, information and coaching self-advocacy. Stable housing is foundational to client wellness and recovery. The coalition empowers clients to the community of their choice. In addition, the Coalition assists R & B operators, via education and support, to understand their customer and how they are part of a team that promotes consumer. The Coalition will provide support to both tenants, providers and operators in establishing safe, peaceful housing solutions for the Behavioral Health consumer in our community.
