The purpose of the Park Access & Equity Plan (PAEP) is to develop a strategy to promote equitable access to park land based on the principles and goals of the Open Space Master Plan (OSMP) for the Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department. This effort analyzes the existing conditions of park distribution in the County, recommends policies to ensure equitable access, establishes criteria for evaluation of areas of need and identifies a strategy for maximizing park service. The Park Access & Equity Plan establishes strategies and guidelines toward building a livable community with access to parks, recreational facilities in walking and biking distance of each residence. It utilizes a neighborhood-based approach to park planning that promotes health & wellness, equitable distribution of parks; a walkable system of greenway trails, safe and accessible streets; and recreational facilities based on a needs assessment survey.
