Miami-Dade Parks and Recreation Department invited thirteen local organizations to formally work together to improve sports and recreation services for children and adults with disabilities throughout Miami-Dade County. The County is both a Blaze Sports and Paralympic Sports and wanted to draw on those contacts to assist in improving local programming. During quarterly meetings Partners work to: Improve sports and recreation for children and adults with physical and visible disabilities, enhance and improve existing recreation and sports programs, refer participants between organizations’ recreation and sports programs, share resources, equipment, facilities, best practices knowledge; create new programs together, coordinate events together, attend quarterly meetings, increase communication, and create a County Calendar of Events/Activities for all to share.
