The Los Angeles County continually works to modernize and streamline every phase of the document recording process through innovative technologies. As a county with one of the highest recording volumes in the nation, the need for modernization is even more apparent. Receiving and processing incoming Recorder payments is one of the areas that has traditionally been handled through the acceptance of physical check payments. The first phase of this development included the introduction of an online payment portal for electronic recording customers, which allowed this group of submitters the ability to securely make online payments, eliminating the need to visit our office daily to deliver a manual check to settle their daily recording balance. During the first phase, system limitations prevented this option from expanding to hard copy recording customers, including over 50 Title companies. The second phase of the project was introduced to accommodate all recorder customers by providing them the option to settle their daily recording balances through an online payment.
