The Ready SanDiego Business Alliance is a partnership between the San Diego County Office of Emergency Services (OES) and the private sector, including non-profits and others who can assist government in responding to and recovering from disasters. While local, state and federal governments are given the responsibility of preparing for and responding to a disaster, the private sector ultimately controls most of the region’s critical infrastructure, employment base and vital supplies and services. In many cases, the private sector has a greater response capability than government, and this program seeks to take advantage of those situations. The ReadySanDiego Business Alliance is a partnership program that focuses on creating a coalition of businesses that can contribute resources and expertise need in times of crises or emergencies. The alliance brings the business community together to form a coordinated effort to address best practices for disaster response and recovery efforts. The Alliance can also build a formal supply chain before a crisis occurs, thus allowing a more immediate and effective response. With support from OES, the Alliance will also address issues specific to business needs with a goal of raising the awareness of the need to prepare businesses and their employees for any multi-hazard event that could impact our region.
