On January 18, 2018, Orange County Clerk-Recorder Hugh Nguyen unveiled the new and one of its kinds, in the State of California, if not in the nation, O.C. Weddings mobile app. The mobile app allows customers to both complete a marriage license application and set an appointment for a civil marriage ceremony with the County Clerk-Recorder Department, all from the convenience of their electronic/mobile devices. OC Weddings mobile app is available on any computer, android, and iOS platforms allowing users to save time while practicing physical/social distancing as the world, particularly Californians are being affected by the novel coronavirus disease 2019, also known as COVID-19. Through this quarantine time, this wedding app plays a critical role in allowing couples to prepare for their marriage license prior coming in person to our Clerk-Recorder Department to eventually finish up the marriage license process as required by California Family Code to be officially married. Being married comes with several benefits such as tax breaks and health insurance benefits. Hence, this makes things crucial for front line workers/individuals whose significant others do not have health benefits when they are unemployed.
