Oakland County, MI places great value on citizen engagement and continually seeks new and unique methods of interacting with the public in a positive manner. The Map of the Month program is one of the latest techniques Oakland County’s Information Technology (IT) Department is using to reach out and share information. Every month, a new interactive map and companion blog entry is created and shared on Oakland County’s web site and social media outlets. The map topics relate to the month and may be more entertaining in nature, such as the locations of winter activities throughout the County, or more functional, such the locations where citizens can dispose of unused, unneeded, or expired prescription drugs safely to promote Substance Abuse Awareness month.
