Cabarrus County was in dire need of a new mobile-friendly, responsive GIS mapping portal and decided to develop the program in-house. The County’s previously used GIS mapping site was developed nearly 10 years ago and was quickly becoming a legacy application. While the previous GIS site was not responsible in design, it was highly regarded by many users. Cabarrus County’s Information Technology Services development team was tasked with providing the end users the same functionality and ease of use, while also producing a lightweight, mobile-first application. The development team leveraged several open-source libraries to complete the task and provided users with an incredibly easy to use, clean, mobile-friendly application.
