Category: Information Technology (Best in Category)

Year: 2017

The Department of Public Works (DPW) implemented a new LUEG Asset Management System (LEAMS) to optimize operations and maintenance functions, consolidate and increase accuracy of asset information, and increase productivity. As it developed LEAMS, DPW: • Created 20 new Geographic Information System (GIS) layers for all road related assets such as roads, signs, traffic signals, street lights, etc., providing an accurate single source of information. • Standardized processes and procedures using the LEAMS system to increase the accuracy of data and eliminate redundant record-keeping systems. • Developed three mobile applications to ensure staff have immediate access to work order and asset information in the field, and provide real-time updates on operation & maintenance work. • Provided an electronic document management system to manage work order and asset records; and enabled data mining for outcome-based goals, key performance indicators, and to support greater transparency to the public.
