Category: Libraries (Best in Category)

Year: 2020

Broward County Library is dedicated to inviting the uninvited on both a local and a global scale by providing free library services that can be accessed on “Land, Air and Sea,” by anyone with a smart phone or device – no library card or registration needed. Through a series of strategic expansions, Broward County Library now offers access to its digital collection of eBooks, magazines and streaming/downloadable movies, TV shows and music at locations throughout the county including the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, public parks, Broward County transit buses, the Seafarer’s House and in schools, health clinics and gyms. This expansion resulted in unprecedented access to library services in Broward County and significant increases in usage of library’s electronic services. From FY18 to FY19, e-resource circulation went from 435,839 items to 605,453 items, a 38.9% increase. Again, from FY19 to FY20, it rose to 720,372 items, another 19% increase. The “Land, Air and Sea” expansion also supports Broward County’s 2020 “Visions, Values and Goals” by contributing to “A sustainable system of world-class …recreation, arts and culture, complementing and balancing our natural resources and environment.”
