About the Program

Category: Children and Youth (Best in Category)

Year: 2016

The Law Offices of the Public Defender’s Law Day Program collaborates with schools throughout San Bernardino County to assist students in their journey of life-long learning from cradle to career. Deputy Public Defenders volunteer their time to meet, interact, and discuss legal issues with students at local schools to educate them on the great heritage of liberty, justice, and equality under the law. The goal of the program is to use the powers of active learning to help bring awareness of the risks of being young in today’s society and as they transition into adulthood. It gives our youth a better understanding of the law, and educates them of our moral and civic obligation as Americans to preserve and strengthen the principle of guaranteed fundamental rights of individuals under the law.
