About the Program

Category: Civic Education and Public Information (Best in Category)

Year: 2016

In the summer of 2015, multiple departments collaborated to create Kitsap County Television (KCTV), a monthly news program designed to increase public outreach to the community. This show, entitled “The Inside Report,” offers an in-depth look into county services, highlights volunteer opportunities, and increases transparency about how local government operates. Monthly episodes are aired on local television and posted on multiple websites to reach varied audiences in avenues previously underutilized. By leveraging an existing contract with local access television in a more creative fashion, KCTV is maximizing the outreach potential and increasing information availability. To date, eight episodes have been filmed, covering 16 different county services in various departments and highlighting a vast amount of divisional announcements at the news desk portion of the show. Funneling outreach messages through this program has assisted in maximizing our internal resources, ensured collaboration across divisions on various projects, and provided departments with segments that have been extracted from the news program and embedded within other education and outreach communications.
