The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD) provides high-quality drinking water and wastewater disposal services to nearly 2.3 million Miami-Dade County residents. The iWASD Allocations GIS Viewer was developed as a free service to assist municipalities comply with reporting requirements as stipulated in Miami-Dade County Code, Florida Statutes, and the Federal Consent Decree to ensure adequate water supply and avoid sewer overflows. This requires Building Officials to report all certificate of occupancy (CO), certificate of use (CU), and permit applications and/or construction permit for which Division of Environmental Resources Management (RER/DERM) or WASD require issuance of a Water or Sewer Capacity Certification Letter. Automating municipal permit data submission ensures municipal compliance and allows WASD and RER/DERM to automate the de-allocation process by quickly eliminating expired, completed, or cancelled projects; thereby avoiding placing municipalities under a construction moratorium. The purpose of compliance is so that WASD can guarantee there is adequate water availability for permitted projects. RER/DERM also guarantees that sewer pump stations have enough capacity for permitted projects. iWASD Allocations provides citizens, developers and municipalities the ability to identify which utility provides water or sewer service for a given address and to view permits and reserved water and/or sewer for the projects in the vicinity. iWASD Allocations also allows users to link directly into each municipality’s online permitting system to view additional permit detail.
