99 county conservation departments had a mission: to redesign and invigorate a successful internet presence with an intensified responsiveness for users, AND to create a cloud-based, statewide connectivity that would bring together all 99 counties – their 620 employees, and 495 board members. Much had been learned in the first three years since the launch of a collective statewide website in 2009. Utilizing public input, available new technologies, and the expanding experience from over 80 county website administrators across the system – planning was initiated in 2012 for a two phase approach to make a lot of dreams come true. First – “The Portal” was launched in 2013 – providing secure cloud-based technology for administrative networking of Best Practices, Employment Opportunities, File Sharing and a ”live” personnel/volunteer database. In the first two years: 1,163 personnel & volunteers have been listed; 47 parent files have been created with hundreds of sub-files; 320 job openings have been listed; and, over 125 Best Practice inquires have been shared. Second – an all-new responsive framework for the public website was rolled out in early 2015 - rave reviews have come in from all users! Registered users have increased by 70%, and revenue flows have grown significantly.
