After the recession, the health of the housing industry began to falter. In response, Hamilton County started it's Housing Resources Directory to create a one-stop database of residential property. The objectives of the Directory are: 1. to have an up-to-date and easy to navigate resource list available to all who are interested in improving housing stock in Hamilton County 2. to build a coalition around the creation of the Directory to ensure the database is constantly updated so the information is valuable 3. to use the coalition as a sounding board to make the Housing Resources Directory the default place to start any search for resources related to “housing” 4. to promote increased communication and networking between the “housing community” 5. to minimize the cost of maintenance of the database 6. to produce it at a minimum cost. The official launch of the project was on October 31, 2011 at a workshop and networking meeting that attracted more than a 100 people from the county, including elected officials, administrators economic and community development managers from local communities, community development agencies, banks and other financial institutions, foundations, developers, community council members, community activists, etc.
