There are millions of families choosing to homeschool across our nation and the number is on the rise everywhere including Northwest Louisiana. These families are looking for alternative ways to engage their children in educational and social experiences. Walter B. Jacobs Memorial Nature Park through The Caddo Parish Parks Department has created a monthly Homeschool Series program that offers families a science-based, hands-on way to introduce natural science topics in their curriculum. Each month a new topic is explored with a knowledgeable Park Naturalist. Children participate in a variety of interdisciplinary activities designed by our educators to meet the needs of a variety of learning styles during this two hour program. The program is at-capacity each month and there are many regular families who are able to create a relationship with other families, park staff, and the park resource.
