About the Program

Category: Risk and Emergency Management (Best in Category)

Year: 2009

In McHenry County, the Health Department has used a portion of Emergency Preparedness funding to implement “mini-grant” programs available to school districts, townships, and municipalities. The purpose of the mini-grants is to assist jurisdictions within the County in planning for public health disasters, educating County residents about emergency issues, and engaging residents in personal preparedness. The first mini-grant program, begun in 2006 and continued until 2008, was specific to pandemic influenza planning. The second mini-grant program, begun in 2008, was available to select municipalities and businesses for piloting the creation of a municipal or business medication-dispensing site.
