As Catawba County emerged from the economic and job losses of the Great Recession, county leaders were faced with three challenges: generate new economic investment by rebuilding its manufacturing base; create more jobs to retain and grow the working-age population; and diversify economic development investments across industries to better balance the impact of industry-specific changes over time. As local leaders strategized around appropriate adaptive responses to these challenges, Trivium Corporate Center was born – a collaboratively-developed Class A business park (the first of its kind in the county) that since 2018 has attracted six diversified companies committing a combined minimum $210M in minimum private investment and 572 jobs, all with wages exceeding the Catawba County average wage.
