The Graffiti Educational Program is an interactive presentation about the risks of graffiti vandalism and the role Los Angeles County Public Works plays in graffiti abatement. The purpose of the program is to inform students of the consequences of getting caught, and to empower them to keep their communitiesâ graffiti free and to take pride in their communities. The program was developed in August 2011 with the first presentation in January 2012.The Program incorporates the 3 Eâs; Education, Eradication, and Enforcement. Education is a critical part of the program because it teaches youth to think twice before getting involved in graffiti vandalism. Eradication is the prompt removal of graffiti so vandalâs graffiti tags remain in the public view for a minimal amount of time. Enforcement is carried out by the Sheriffâs Department; they conduct investigations and apprehend and convict taggers. The program outcome was very promising as dozens of children pledged never to graffiti.
