OC Parks created a unique recycling promotion, Go Green at the OC Zoo. For St. Patrick’s Day, the OC Zoo offered free admission for anyone bringing in a cardboard box to recycle. Additionally, the Zoo had St. Patrick’s Day-themed children’s crafts and giveaways. The Zoo uses boxes as enrichment items for the animals and collected 600 boxes that might have otherwise ended up in a landfill, while raising public awareness about the Zoo.
