Based on Florida Statute 193.023, Miami-Dade Countyâs Office of the Property Appraiser was being faced with the challenge of re-inspecting every property at least once every 5 years. For years, the Property Appraiser carried out this task with a manual business process of sending inspectors into the field to physically examine properties. Recent advancements in the Geographic Information System (GIS) related technologies provided the Property Appraiser (PA) a cost effective, efficient alternative with the GIS Oblique Imagery Solution. Miami-Dade Countyâs Information Technology Department implemented this solution as a collaborative partnership for leveraging the technology as an enterprise solution across the County. This would make the benefits available to County departments and provide leverage costs for hardware, software and support staff on an uninterrupted 24/7 service schedule. This implementation has significantly reduced the cost of the PA re-inspection process in reducing the number of man-hours required to complete an inspection, lower fuel consumption to mobilize crews, and limited use of county vehicles.
