The County of Los Angeles (County) implemented a mobile workflow management technology that allows water system operators to perform paperless inspections as well as preventive emergency and unscheduled operation and maintenance of assets and service meters. The Geographic Information System (GIS) serves different types and levels of users, facilitates information/data sharing, and provides management with opportunities for real time engagement and decision making. The County, operates and maintains five Waterworks Districts (WWD), including the Marina del Rey and Rancho Los Amigos Water systems (Districts), which provide water service to more than 250,000 people through approximately 68,000 service connections in the Antelope Valley, Malibu, Marina del Rey, Acton, Val Verde, and Kagel Canyon areas. The Districts use both treated surface water from the Colorado River and State Water Project and local groundwater to supply potable water to their customers. The implementation of infraMap from iWater for workflow management provides WWD a GIS-based user-friendly access to its information/data to support an array of business processes for work orders, inspections, infrastructure map updates, water quality data tracking, and service requests in a secure environment. Additionally, system operators and management have full map interaction, optimized geocentric asset inventory, maintenance history, and reporting functions.
