The County of San Diego, Department of General Services (DGS) Fleet Mobile Maintenance Program offers an efficient and cost-effective method to provide routine scheduled maintenance and repair of County vehicles and equipment operating in remote locations. The program, originally established as an emergency repair service, was redesigned to include scheduled preventive maintenance and repairs. The benefits include a reduction in fuel cost, as well as reduced vehicle mileage and staff downtime associated with transporting vehicles to and from Fleet Maintenance facilities. Departments which take advantage of this service have increased staff availability to conduct their primary duties and responsibilities. Additionally, the Fleet Mobile Maintenance Program addresses a County priority to increase emergency response capability in support of first responders and expand the culture of disaster preparedness.
