Baltimore County Department of Aging (BCDA or Agency developed a fund development campaign to provide greater outreach and outcomes of resources for the County’s older adults, caregivers, baby boomers and professionals. In a time when the economy is struggling and many constraints are necessary for a Department’s budget, creative means of expanding the capabilities of the Department are essential.Through funds raised through advertising, the Department of Aging was able to produce two outstanding publications: the Baby Boomer/Senior Expo Program Guide and the Community Resource Directory. By selling the advertisements to cover the printing and doing the layout design internally, the Department was able to produce the books at no cost. The distribution of these books provides essential tools for older adults in our community.Further, BCDA was able to enhance many of the important programs for our older adults through the fund development of major events. Through partnerships, exhibitor sales and admissions, the Department was able to raise funds to support the fitness centers, the programming in the senior centers, one-time only emergency financial support to older adults experiencing hard times and other valuable programs.
