The purpose of the Family Treatment Program of the Douglas County Juvenile Court is to motivate substance-abusing parents, who already have their children in foster care or who are at risk of losing their children to foster care, to seek recovery from the disease of chemical dependency by offering them the best opportunity for success through intensive legal and therapeutic team collaborative efforts. The objectives of Douglas County’s Family Treatment Program are: to facilitate parents’ rapid entry into treatment and remain in treatment; to have parents live a lifestyle that is free of drugs and alcohol; to promote lasting collaborative relationships with community stakeholders; to have children live in healthy, stable, homes free of substance abuse; and to reduce community costs by reducing crime and associated victimization.
