Family Law LegalLine is a community service program that assist Harris County constituents receive legal information in family law matters. Licensed attorneys, on staff with the Harris County Domestic Relations Office (DRO), provide answers to legal questions and referrals to resources via the telephone, at no cost to the caller. The purpose was to meet our constituent’s need for legal information in family law, particularly those who could not afford an attorney, were reluctant to seek formal legal assistance, and/or could not readily leave their home during COVID. The program resulted in an ongoing source of legal information for the community using existing attorney staff. The benefits have been measured and the program is continuing post-COVID.
