Year: 2016

Oakland County Homeland Security Division created and implemented a fill-in-the-blank emergency plan form accessible and can be completed on our website. This form encourages individuals and families to complete an emergency plan within minutes. The seven step process addresses the necessary information every emergency plan should consist of: Escape Routes, Meeting Places, Children, Special Health Needs, Pets, Specific Risks and/or Hazards, and Emergency Contact Information including out-of-town contacts, doctors, and complete safe home instructions. This interactive form was designed with general questions for each step allowing the user to simply fill-in-the-blank with a response that corresponds with a specific question, such as emergency contact information. The form is titled “Our Emergency Plan” and the goal was to educate and encourage Oakland County residents to have a pre-written plan available in the event of an actual emergency. Our agency promoted the project beginning September 1, 2015 and is continuous. We made a herculean effort to get message out to the public via the county’s website, news releases, social media, and public presentations. Overall, we achieved our goal of providing the public with a quick, easy-to-complete plan.
