The Community Emergency Response Guide (CERG) was developed with input from several county agencies and community representatives as a one stop guide to help prepare the whole community for emergencies. As a companion to Fairfax Countyâs Emergency Operations Plan (EOP), this guide outlines the strategies community members can take to support themselves in the event of a disaster or emergency. The CERG is an innovative and informative resource to walk residents through the preparedness process. The guide includes emergency planning templates for families, neighborhoods and businesses, as well as detailed information about the hazards that affect the county. Collectively, we took a step back and put ourselves in our residentsâ shoes so we could make this plan simple, but actionable. The CERG provides steps for anyone living, working, or playing in Fairfax County to take and be ready for whatever comes our way.
