About the Program

Category: Information Technology (Best in Category)

Year: 2017

In 2012, Maricopa County began the implementation of a Unified VoIP (voice over internet protocol) communications system. This project was led by the Office of Enterprise Technology (OET) and branded as “McUnify”. McUnify was designed to launch reliable and easy to use business communications services, delivering an integrated set of voice, video, data applications and internet collaboration tools, which are accessible to staff from anywhere and on a wide range of communication devices (desk phones, desk computers, laptops, cell phones, tablets, and other devices). County-wide implementation was completed without service disruption, maintaining the same level of security, user feature functionality, and dial plans for easy adoption. This baseline implementation goal was key to a smooth changeover and overall success of McUnify. The project was completed on June 30, 2016 and within budget.
