Category: Risk and Emergency Management (Best in Category)

Year: 2010

The York County Department of Fire and Life Safety developed two Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Mobile Training Trailers that allow high quality EMS training equipment to be safely moved to multiple locations for initial, refresher and continuing education EMS skills training. The highly sophisticated patient simulation training aids carried on the EMS Mobile Training Trailers enable clinical care students and providers to train on the high risk/low frequency patient care skills that must be practiced to maintain proficiency, without having to relocate them to a central training location and, thus, remove them as an operational resource, capable of responding to service demands. By developing a system that allows sophisticated patient simulation training aids to travel to providers at their work stations, they could increase the frequency of training opportunities, maximize the amount of time available for training, improve the quality of that training, and improve overall patient care team performance.
