The Electronic Subpoena (E-Subpoena) project is a collaborative effort between the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, Information Systems Advisory Body (ISAB), Internal Services Department (ISD), and law enforcement. The project came about in response to efficiency problems associated with the lengthy and wieldy process of hand delivering paper subpoenas to law enforcement. Problems occurred when last-minute witness changes were necessary or when an officer could not be easily located. The result was an increase in court-related overtime expenditures and instances of continuances or dismissals of cases due to officer unavailability. With the E-Subpoena project, subpoenas are delivered directly and almost instantly to its intended recipient saving time, money, and resources.
