The Airport Operations Area (AOA) online training and exam supports safety at six General Aviation Airports and assists with the reduction of Vehicle/Pedestrian Deviations. The Airport Operations Area (AOA) is the portion of an airport designed and used for landing, take off, or surface maneuvering of aircraft. A Vehicle/Pedestrian Deviation is any entry or movement on the movement area by a vehicle (including aircraft operated by non-pilots) or pedestrian that has not been authorized by air traffic control. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requires airports to explore options to alleviate various safety issues occurring within the AOA by providing initial and recurrent training, controlling access to the AOA and discussing airport rules, regulations and driving procedures by airport users in preparation of the AOA Driver’s Exam.
