The Probation Department has three established Day Reporting Centers (DRCâs) for the adult population in three geographical regions; located in the Central Valley/San Bernardino area, the West Valley/Fontana area and the High Desert/Victorville area. These DRCâs were designed as a one-stop center for the reentry population providing quality services and treatment along with rehabilitation services. Since the implementation of California Assembly Bill 109 (Prison Realignment) the population of offenders in our local detention facilities and state prisons has increased significantly, with many of these individuals having serious medical and mental health problems, and being released without resources and/or follow-up care. In the 3rd Quarter of 2019, the Probation Department assigned a Correctional Registered Nurse to each of the DRCs to provide immediate triage, and to promote optimal health and wellbeing through the education, empowerment, advocacy and facilitation of access to health care. The DRC Nurse Program is focused on Prevention and Wellness, Treatment, Monitoring and Management opportunities for all adult clients that seek services from the San Bernardino County Probation Department Day Reporting Centers, and has served over 500 people in the first five months.
