Community-based Housing for Individuals in the Recovery Process (CHIRP) was created approximately two years ago with input from both public and private entities. This innovative program was established to support qualifying Henrico County residents with a substance use disorder in obtaining safe, sober housing. This program agrees to financially sponsor qualified individuals for two weeks of recovery housing while simultaneously seeking treatment to address their substance use. This is not a long-term financial solution for individuals, but it has assisted those suffering from a substance use disorder in beginning their community-based recovery journey. Thus far, 84% of individuals receiving funding, successfully completed the terms of their CHIRP application.
