About the Program

Category: Health (Best in Category)

Year: 2020

The Center for Child and Youth Psychiatry (CCYP) is a new centralized medication monitoring program for children and youth with complex medication needs. CCYP uses face-to-face and telepsychiatry/telehealth practices at multiple locations throughout San Diego county to provide outpatient psychiatric evaluation and medication support services to children and youth who have been successfully discharged from their mental health provider. These children and youth, while discharged, may have continuing psychotropic medication needs that are too complex for their primary care physician and/or a federally qualified health center. Staff at CCYP provide linkages to community resources and facilitate access to psychotropic medication, including the administration of long-acting injectable psychotropic medication, when indicated and necessary for the youth's stability.
