Year: 2013

Chesterfield County has been taking an aggressive approach to reduce health care costs by focusing on the most expensive healthcare claims and looking at ways to eliminate the underlying causes. One of the ways Chesterfield County is doing this is through the county’s wellness program, C-Fit. C-Fit is a collaborative program between Chesterfield County Government and Schools.Through C-Fit, the county offers a variety of programs dedicated to creating an environment of wellness that enables employees to develop healthy lifestyles that enhance their quality of life. One of the programs created was the C-Fit Farmer’s Market. The Market was established in 2012 to provide employees with a convenient source for fresh, local produce and other fresh, local food products. In addition to the healthful habits the Farmer’s Market promotes, it also supports the local economy.
