Year: 2012

Macomb County worked collaboratively with a local community and university to establish a business incubator focused on industries with strong potential for growth. Working as equal partners, the county worked with Oakland University and the city of Sterling Heights to form the Macomb-OU INCubator in 2008. Now an established entity, the center is a place where entrepreneurs can find assistance launching business ideas; start-up companies can access services to accelerate commercialization or access alternative financing opportunities; and the general business community can participate in educational seminars and workshops. Since its inception, the Macomb-OU INC has served 16 clients resulting in the creation of 48 new jobs and/or success in securing nearly one million dollars in start-up capital funding.
